Salmon & Trout Conservation Scotland Strongly Oppose IBA Processing and Storage on Banks of the Dee.
Updated: Jul 23, 2020
An IBA storage and processing facility sited so close to the river has the potential to leach pollutants into the river. Depending on the waste materials burned in the source incinerator, the ash can include heavy metals such as lead and zinc, and toxic chemicals such as dioxins and furans. However secure the storage facility is meant to be, there is obvious potential for leachate to enter the river and therefore siting such a unit on the banks of the Dee should be avoided at all costs.
